Dunkin’ Rewards Programme

No Canadian Dunkin’ Rewards programme has been announced. The details below describe the current US programme, which is the most likely template for a Canadian launch.

Dunkin’ Rewards replaced the older DD Perks programme in 2022, moving from a visit-based model to a points-per-dollar model. The change made it harder to earn a free drink on small purchases and easier on large ones.

The practical read: a free coffee every $15 spent works out to roughly a 7 percent return, which is competitive with Tims Rewards but not exceptional.

Boosted Status

Boosted Status raises the earn rate from 10 to 12 points per dollar. It is earned by making purchases on 12 separate days within a calendar month, and once earned it holds for the following month.

What to Expect in Canada

Foodtastic has not announced a Canadian rewards programme. A launch without one would be unusual for the Canadian coffee market, where Tims Rewards and Starbucks Rewards are both well established and heavily used.

The open questions: whether points transfer across the border, whether the Canadian app is separate, and whether the earn rate is adjusted for Canadian pricing. None of these have been addressed publicly.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many points do you need for a free coffee at Dunkin’?

150 points, which is roughly $15 of spending at the standard 10 points per dollar rate.

Do Dunkin’ Rewards points expire?

Yes, after six months of account inactivity in the US programme.

What is Boosted Status?

A higher earn rate of 12 points per dollar, earned by making purchases on 12 separate days within a calendar month. It applies to the following month.

Will Dunkin’ Rewards work in Canada?

Not announced. Whether the US programme extends north or a separate Canadian programme launches is unknown.

Is Dunkin’ Rewards better than Tims Rewards?

The earn rates are close to identical. Dunkin’ offers a tiered bonus that Tims does not, but Tims has far more locations to redeem at in Canada.
